Core Skills: Lens Based (Rebecca) self portraiture

ive taken photographs of my sister who is the portrait in these images.

the last 3 are the ones i have taken before my final images.

so the first 3 are my final images.

What inspired me to do this was a quote said by Andy Warhol "Everything has its beauty, but not everyone sees it". This quote to me means that women now days apply make up to show beauty, but what their doing is instead of revealing the beauty from with in. Make up is used to mask that. And the text of this quote has help me with that. I have also translated Andy Warhol's quote to niuean which is "Hai ai he tau fulufuluola he tau mena oti ka e ai maeke ke kitia" and painted it on her face.

Todays task was to take photographs of patterns and textures and my group and i started experimenting.

These are a few examples of what my publication is going to contain Chalk boarding that involves typography other wise known as using text. I thought about typography but thought further in what i'm going to base it on and because i have a lot of interest in music i decided to bring create something similar to this artist.

This artists name is Dana Tanamachi who was born in the heart of texas but she is currently based in Brooklyn, New York. She creates a lot of murals as shown below and is well known for her chalk art around the United States. So i am working on creating works like this but using music lyrics, but because this is my first time experimenting with chalk art i will put a lot of effort into it.

As well as Sean Williams who does typographic portraits of music artists i am also inspired by his work. One example of his works is Bruno Mars.
